On Friday afternoon Rebekah asked if we could take her to the airport and see Grumpas plane. Poor Grumpa was so busy and just couldn't take her. We decided that Saturday afternoon would work for us. We asked Jonathan if it was Ok and he agreed (thank you so much).
I went to get her about noon. Grumpa had to work earlier in the morning. When he was finished with work he left for the airport to help a friend work on their plane (a Mooney). We were to meet him there. As we came off the freeway and around the bend to the airport, Rebekah started yelling "There's the airport!!!" She had see the tower and knew that we were there!
We found Grumpa riding his bike over to the hanger. Since it was about noon (well it was 1 by the time we got to the airport) Grumpa had a great idea!!! We taxied the plane over to Beeps (or is it Beebs??) anyway we taxied over in the plane and had lunch.
We want to take Rebekah in the plane flying (I have written about that before) but we don't want her frightened by the noise or whatever a 3yr old can get frightened of. So a little taxi ride in the plane across the airport was just perfect. She wore a headset and was able to talk to Grumpa and hear the ground traffic control give Grumpa permission to go across. She LOVED it! I think the headset weighs about as much as she does, but she didn't complain at all. She looked out and pointed to all the planes she loves to see.
After lunch we went to see the fish. One of the guys at the airport turned an old oil something-or-other into a fish pond. She loves to see the fish and watch them. The guy that takes care of them let her feed them a bit of food! She had a fun day.
It wasn't long after we got all buckled in and headed for home that she was sound asleep. I put her in my bed to finish her nap. She was tired because it took a
L O N G time for her to wake up.
When she woke up from her nap her and Grumpa went outside and she rode her tricycle around and around the backyard. Then for dinner Grumpa made fry sauce and he and Rebekah ate french fries and dipped them in the sauce for dinner. Well she also ate a good helping of macaroni and cheese. I think we all had a very nice day.
Her daddy was so happy to get her back home!
